iCal is a convenient Calendar application.

Topics include:

adding single, recurring, all-day or multi-day events to a calendar

creating separate calendars for family members, viewable singly or together, color-keyed

adding notes and explanations

making a to-do list by person & setting priorities

choosing to have alerts concerning forthcoming events
