This procedure is written up using Layers. If you do not know how to use layers, you can try by following the instructions step by step. If you donšt want to use layers, apply the tools directly and work on a copy of your original image.
Open your image
Click on Layer>New Adjustment Layer>Levels and click OK.
Click on Layer>New Adjustment Layer>Threshold and click OK. This feature will allow us to find the blackest and whitest object in the image to use with Levels eyedroppers to correct the black and white points. Click on the triangle in Threshold Layer and move the slider all the way to the left and then slowly move it back to the right until black just begins to appear and you can identify the feature and make note of where it is located. Move the slider all the way to the right and then slowly move it to the left until the white point appears, note it also. Click on Cancel to turn off the Threshold layer.
Click on the Levels Layer and the Black point eyedropper and click on the blackest point determined by Threshold. Repeat for the White point. Adjust Mid-tones with middle triangle slider.
Perform any other enhancements, if desired.
When finished, Click on Layer>Flatten Image. Done.
Open your image.
Click on Adjustment Layer>Photo Filter. Try different filters until you find your desired image. Click Okay when and if you are satisfied, if not click on Cancel.
Continue on with any other enhancements and Click on Layer>Flatten Image. Done.
