Creating a Custom Brush for Adding a
Copyright to a Photo
Open Photoshop and select File>New>Blank File
Settings: 800 x 800 pixels, 300 pixels per inch (ppi), RGB, Transparent
Select the Type Tool and in the Type Toolbar set Font type, size (12
works well) and Color: Black
Click in the middle of the window and to the left side. Hold down the
Alt key and type numbers 0169 (Option G for Mac). When the Alt
key is
released the copyright symbol © will appear. Add date and
name.
Select the Rectangle Marquee Tool and draw a rectangle around the type,
just a little larger than the type.
Select Edit>Define Brush from Selection and enter a name for the
brush, OK.
To use the brush select the Brush Tool and in it’s drop down menu
select Default Brushes if it is not already selected. Scroll down
to the bottom of the list to find your © brush ands select it.
Click on the location you want your copyright notice to appear and it
will. To resize it draw a Rectangle Marquee Tool box around
it. Select Image>Transform in PSE3 and resize it with the
Object Handles.
Select the Move Tool reposition. Press the Escape key then
Select>Deselect.
