"John Miles and Gene
Cole have volunteered to assist me as group leader
for 2006 and we have met with Marlene Sloan to further refine the
organization and objective of the group. We agreed on the
objective of
the group to be “Review and discuss techniques in Adobe Photoshop CS3
and previous professional versions”. We feel CS3 should be the
primary
focus version to assist new users and expose new features to all.
Our goal at meetings is to have one to three presentations or
discussions led by a group member and a sharing of tips and tricks
session. We want the process to reflect the spirit of the
discussion
group’s name and have the meetings as low key as possible and foster
open sharing and learning by all. We expect all members to
participate
by taking responsibility for programs by suggesting topics and being
responsible for programs." Jim Bilbro
Meetings - Second

And speaking of 2007 topics - CS3 and HDR - here's another article from

High Dynamic Range
There is an excellent article on HDR in
today's "Austin-American Statesman", Section F, on an amateur Austin
photographer who has adopted this technique and excells with it.
HDR is a
semi-automatic process that combines two or more images and allows more
details
to be shown in the image in the highlights and shadows. The
photos must be
taken on a tripod and taken in the aperture priority mode or manual
mode where
you vary the shutter speed only. Autoexposure bracketing will
also accomplish
this. This works for film or digital cameras. For digital
cameras you must use
the Raw format. Manual focus is also preferred. The article
has a list of
resources where you can see the photographers photos. It is worth
$0.50 to see
this photographer's work.

As always, there will be announcements about Photoshop and time for
questions
and answers from the group.
An added item from Burton Anes - "Coincidently, I received Pop Photo
mag today, and it has an article about HDR.
I guess it's going to be the new in-technique."
