How to Establish Nested Folders for Organizing Your Favorite Web Pages:

Storing your Favorites makes a great way to bookmark your top Web sites for easy access, but eventually this constantly growing list of handy shortcuts can become as unwieldy as the Web itself. Consider establishing some sub-folders or nested folders in which you can store Favorite Websites that have common subjects.  For example, you may wish to establish folders for your medical sites, your financial sites, your computer sites, or Las Vegas sites. Your options are limitless.

To create a folder that is nested within the Favorites folder, click on the Favorites item on the menu bar of your Internet Explorer browser. Select Organize Favorites and then Create Folder.  Now type in the name for your new folder and select Close.

To create a nested folder that is contained within one of the nested folders, click on the Favorites item on the menu bar of your Internet Explorer browser. Select Organize Favorites and then click on the nested folder in the right column in which you would like to add a folder. Now select Create Folder.  Finally, type in the name for your new folder and select Close.

How to Utilize the Power of the Links Folder

You can keep the really, really important sites—the ones you refer to on a regular basis—at your fingertips. The Links toolbar atop your browser window cradles quick-click buttons offering direct connections to a handful of paramount pages.  In addition, all Web pages stored in the Links folder are accessible from the Taskbar on your Desktop.

You will note that the Links folder already exists as a nested folder under Favorites. To place a high priority favorite in the Links folder, follow the steps described in the sub-section entitled How to Save a New Favorite to a Nested Folder.

You should be able to find a Links toolbar (its size may vary) near the top of your Internet Explorer browser. If you cannot locate it, click on View on the Menu bar, go to Toolbar, then click on Links.

You can also add a Links toolbar to the Taskbar that generally appears at the bottom of your Desktop. To activate the Links toolbar on the Taskbar, right-click on the Taskbar, move up to Toolbars, and then select Links. You will discover that all of your Favorites that are stored in the Links folder on your Internet Explorer browser can now be accessed directly from the Taskbar.

How to Place Your Favorites in Alphabetical Order
From the Menu bar of your Internet Explorer browser, click on Favorites, then right-click on any one of the folders or files, then left-click on Sort by Name.

To sort all files within an individual folder, hold your cursor on top of a folder until a sidebar list of files contained within the folder appears. Right-click on any one of the files and then left-click on Sort by Name.

How to View Web Pages You Have Recently Visited

If you have forgotten to add a frequently used web page to your Favorites, you may be able to find it by viewing your History list, which is a list of all the pages you have recently visited. Click the History button (the icon looks like a clock with a green arrow moving in a counterclockwise direction) on the Internet Explorer Toolbar. A popup menu will appear on the left side of the screen. This popup menu will display all the Web pages in your History. The menu will disappear when you click on the close box in the upper right corner or click again on the History button.
