Paint – How Hard Can It Be? 

 

There are only 16 different selections. 

The toolbox is usually arranged in 2 columns, 8 icons in each column.

 

ToolBox:                        

Left Side icon

Right side icon

Unusual Shape – to select irregular shapes

Dotted line Rectangle - selects a rectanglar area

Eraser – select to erase mistakes  (Plan 2 – Select area and Edit, Clear Selection)

Paint Can -    Select to fill in an enclosed area with chosen color - Point and Shoot

Eye dropper – to exactly match an existing color

Magnifier – make larger an area of your design for editing

Pencil – draw freehand lines with selected color in a graphic

Paintbrush – color in wide areas by dragging

Air Brush  – effect like a can of spray paint – also point and shoot – three different patterns

Text – Enter text on design with color background or transparent background –  once completed cannot be edited – start over

Straight line draws straight line in selected width and color

Curved line – same as straight line but two clicks off line will alter curve

Rectangle – draws rectangle  - click and drag from upper left to lower right

Polygon – draws any sided straight line figure.  Click at end of each side.  Join first to last.

Circle or Oval – drag as in rectangle.  Final size and position may be hard to predict.

Appearing and Disappearing glyphs below the Toolbox -

Usually allows you to select the width or size of the line or border or paint brush or air brush spray

Exception:  Glyphs that appear when the text box is selected determine if the text box is a solid color or transparent.  Transparent is usually best for photos.  Click a selection and what you see is what you get

 

Color bar with preset colors.  Top square is foreground color changed by Left Click on desired color.  Partially hidden square is background color changed by right click on desired color

 

 

Menus:

File – Usual Options – Save, Page Setup, Print- Send and list of most recently used objects and more

 

Edit – Select All, Clear Selection, Cut, Paste and more

 

View – Tool Bar, Status Bar, Color Bar, Text choices, and Zoom to select different magnifications for editing

 

Image make changes on image such as flip, make larger or smaller, check sizes

 

Color -   Choose colors not on color bar or customize colors for use with color bar.  Custom colors may be set with eye dropper
